South-east of Munich, the Tegernsee–Schliersee landscape changes quickly from city streets to farm country, lake basins and the first serious folds of the Bavarian Alps. Tegernsee is the spacious opening act: the water lies between wooded slopes, with the communities of Gmund, Bad Wiessee, Kreuth, Rottach-Egern and Tegernsee set around its shore. Continue through the Miesbach district and the scenery becomes more intimate at Schliersee before the road climbs towards Spitzingsee, a small lake high in the mountains. This is a day for looking out of the window as much as getting out of the vehicle; the change in scale between the three lakes is the point.
YourDriver24 can provide the private vehicle and chauffeur from Munich for an approximate booked period of six to eight hours; a balanced version below uses about seven hours. It is a private transfer-led day, not a guided tour, so the chauffeur is not a licensed destination guide and does not provide guided attraction commentary. Traffic, weather, parking, road conditions and how long you choose to linger will shape the order. The sample itinerary is therefore illustrative, not a guaranteed timetable. Entrance tickets, boat journeys, cable cars, mountain buses, meals and any separately booked guide are extra and should be reserved directly with the relevant venue or operator. The booked vehicle and chauffeur period remains fully payable even if you decide to use less of it.

About your visit
Tegernsee: an Alpine lake with room to breathe
Tegernsee works well as the first lakeside pause after Munich. Rather than trying to circle the whole lake, choose one shore and give it time: Tegernsee town has a compact waterfront atmosphere, while Rottach-Egern is a useful south-eastern base for looking across the water towards Wallberg. A short stroll, coffee stop or early lunch can turn the arrival into a real lake experience. On clear days, the shape of the basin and the layered foothills explain why this area feels like a distinct destination rather than simply an excursion stop.
Several Tegernsee experiences are optional choices, not components to squeeze into the three-lake itinerary. A scheduled lake boat journey gives a water-level perspective, while the Wallbergbahn cable car rises from Rottach-Egern for panoramic views over the Tegernsee valley and Alps. Either can be excellent, but both depend on the operator’s service, weather and your own ticket arrangements. Choosing a boat ride or cable car means allowing more time and normally dropping Schliersee or Spitzingsee from the same six-to-eight-hour booking. Your chauffeur can take you to the departure or lower-station area and wait as agreed; the attraction transport itself is separately operated and charged.
Schliersee and Spitzingsee: from village shore to high lake
Schliersee has a more close-knit, lived-in lakeside character. It is a sensible place to stretch your legs after the Tegernsee leg, take in the water from the village side and decide whether the day needs a gentle break or should continue into the hills. The local visitor information notes the road route from Munich via the A8, Weyarn, Miesbach and B307; with a chauffeur, guests can enjoy that transition without having to navigate the change from motorway to country and mountain roads themselves. The value here is not a long hike. It is the progression from lower lake, to village, to the mountains gathering around the horizon.
From Schliersee, the road towards Spitzingsee becomes the day’s scenic ascent. Spitzingsee sits roughly ten kilometres south of Schliersee and substantially higher, in a compact bowl of forested slopes. Use the stop for a lakeshore walk, photographs and a relaxed meal if that suits the pace. The higher setting can feel noticeably cooler than Munich, even when the city is warm, so a layer and sturdy shoes are sensible. This is not a promise of mountain activities: hiking routes, local lifts, snow conditions and walking surfaces need to be judged on the day. For a concise day trip, the lake itself and its immediate surroundings are the realistic focus.
Alternative route: Starnberger See and Andechs monastery
If a high mountain road is not the right fit, ask for the western alternative: Starnberger See followed by Andechs monastery. Lake Starnberg is much closer to Munich and its long shore supports an easier rhythm of promenade walking, a waterside café, views of sailing boats and, when conditions are right, an optional boat journey. The official lake operator runs services on both Tegernsee and Starnberger See, but timetables and sailings must always be checked directly. This alternative is especially useful for guests who would rather spend time by one large lake than cover three different lake settings.
Andechs adds a very different pause: the monastery stands on the Holy Mountain above the lakes region, with a church, monastery shop and Bräustüberl on site. Its visitor information lists separate opening arrangements for the church, shop and hospitality, so confirm the current details directly before planning a visit. A respectful church visit or meal can be paired with a Starnberger See shore stop without pretending that the day is a guided monastery tour. As with the main circuit, the chauffeur handles the private road transport; food, purchases, admission where applicable and any venue-specific activity are the guest’s own extras.
An illustrative day
This example starts in Munich and shows approximate times only. Traffic, weather, opening hours and your ticket slots determine the final sequence. Optional alternatives are not all included in one day.
08:30
Private pickup in Munich
Meet your chauffeur at the agreed Munich address and leave south-east towards Tegernsee. The city-to-lake drive is commonly around an hour in favourable conditions, but the day begins with the understanding that live traffic sets the real pace.
09:35
Tegernsee town or Rottach-Egern shore
Allow time for a waterside walk, photographs and a café stop at one chosen Tegernsee shore. The two locations are alternatives within the same stop, not a requirement to cover both; keeping this pause focused protects time for the higher lakes.
11:00
Schliersee village-side lake pause
Travel on through the foothills to Schliersee, allowing roughly 30 to 40 minutes for the road depending on the exact starting shore and traffic. A short stroll beside the lake offers a change of scene before the route climbs towards Spitzingsee.
12:20
Spitzingsee lakeshore and unhurried lunch
Continue on the mountain road for a roughly 30-minute transfer to the higher lake. Use about 90 minutes for the immediate lakeside, a meal at a venue of your choice and time to enjoy the forested setting; no lift, bus or mountain activity is assumed in this sample.
14:15
Scenic return to Munich
Start the return via the Schliersee–Miesbach corridor, with arrival in Munich commonly around 15:30 to 16:00 when traffic cooperates. That produces an illustrative booked period of about seven hours; traffic, weather and longer stops can move the return within the agreed six-to-eight-hour window.
Best time to travel
Late spring through early autumn are appealing for green slopes, open lakeside terraces and longer daylight, but warm weekends can also bring busy roads and popular shore areas. Summer supports a relaxed water-focused day, while early autumn can bring clear mountain views and changing colour around the lakes. Do not treat good weather as guaranteed: conditions can change quickly between Munich, Tegernsee and the higher Spitzingsee basin. A light waterproof layer, shoes suitable for uneven shore paths and sun protection make the day more comfortable than dressing only for the city forecast.
Winter creates a quieter, more wintry character, especially at Spitzingsee, but it also demands flexibility. Snow, ice, reduced daylight, temporary road restrictions and changing mountain conditions may mean that the lower-elevation Starnberger See and Andechs alternative is a better choice. Lake navigation, cable cars, seasonal hospitality and local mountain transport can operate on limited schedules or pause for weather and maintenance. Check each operator directly shortly before travel; your chauffeur can adjust the road route within the booked period, but cannot guarantee external services or conditions.
Plan your day
Decide before departure whether the priority is the three-lake circuit or a single optional paid activity at Tegernsee. The standard route is feasible because it concentrates on viewpoints, shore walks and one relaxed food stop. A Tegernsee boat, Wallbergbahn ascent, a long hike, a lengthy restaurant lunch or additional destinations all require extra time and may mean removing another stop. Reserve tickets directly with the boat, cable-car or venue operator, and check their current timetable, access conditions and weather notices. Tickets, attraction transport, meals and purchases are not included in the private chauffeur booking.
Share pickup address, passenger count, luggage or mobility needs, preferred food timing and any non-negotiable stop when requesting the trip. The chauffeur can take care of the vehicle, road routing, practical drop-offs and agreed waiting, but is not a licensed guide or substitute for venue staff. Respect marked parking, private frontage, lakeshore access rules and mountain-road conditions; the driver may need to alter a stop for safety or access. The reserved vehicle-and-chauffeur period is fully payable even if you finish earlier or decide to spend less time in the vehicle. Any extension, additional kilometres or altered scope should be agreed in advance.

Before you travel
Can Tegernsee, Schliersee and Spitzingsee realistically fit into one day from Munich?
Yes, as a focused private road itinerary. Around seven booked hours allows for the three lakes, short lakeside walks and one relaxed meal stop, but not for extensive hiking or several ticketed attractions. The timing shown is illustrative and can change with traffic, weather, parking and your pace.
Can we add the Wallbergbahn or a Tegernsee boat ride?
Yes, subject to the operator’s current service and your own ticket reservation, but treat either as a substitute for part of the three-lake circuit rather than an automatic addition. Cable-car and boat times, queues and weather can extend the day. The chauffeur provides the road transfer, not the attraction transport.
What is included with the private chauffeur booking?
The booking covers the agreed private vehicle and chauffeur for the reserved period, including practical road transport between planned stops. It is not a guided tour: the chauffeur is not a licensed guide. Meals, admission, boats, cable cars, mountain buses, venue tickets and any separately hired guide are extra.
Can we choose Starnberger See and Andechs instead of the Alpine lake circuit?
Yes. This is a genuine alternative route, not a required add-on to Tegernsee, Schliersee and Spitzingsee. It works well for guests who prefer a shorter drive, lakeside strolling and a monastery visit. Confirm Andechs opening details and any lake-boat service directly before travel.
What happens if we return to Munich early?
You may finish early, but the booked vehicle-and-chauffeur period remains fully payable even if less time is used. If you would like to extend the day, add attractions or significantly alter the route, agree that with YourDriver24 in advance so availability and the revised scope can be confirmed.
